The swimming pool that Scot had in his garden.
It was soon tea time and we had to dry off and get dressed for tea.
“Ben, once you’ve got changed bring your wet stuff down, love and I’ll dry it a bit before you go home,” Sue shouted to us, as I jumped out of the pool.
“Okay, thanks,” and I went upstairs into Scots room to get dressed. I got undressed and dried off properly and then started to get dressed. As I opened my bag I pulled out my clothes, so I could put my trainer pants on first. I opened them up and put them on as I did earlier, got dressed and then went downstairs handing my wet stuff to Sue.
“Tea’s ready Ben. Go and sit at the table.”
We all had tea and then went into the front room to watch TV for a bit. Scot and I laid on the floor and his mum and dad sat on the settee. Scot then asked if we could go outside in the garden for a bit before I had to go home.
We both went outside and started playing with a football, just kicking it to each other and trying to outdo each other at keepy ups. It was a warm night and Sue brought us a drink out. Drink finished, we grabbed the football again and started kicking it to each other. Scot then kicked it a bit too hard and it was going to hit the back-door window, so I reached back to try and grab it and fell over the small wall that led around the back of the house. I landed on my back and as kids do, I let a yell out. Sue came out and saw me lying on the floor trying to get back up.
My elbows were cut, so she told Scot to go inside and get a wet cloth from the kitchen. She asked if I was okay and when Scot returned, she washed the blood off and put a plaster on my elbow.
It was soon time to head off and I said goodbye to his dad, sister and Sue. Scot and I then set off back to my house. I thanked her for a brilliant day and she replied, “You’re very welcome, Ben. You can come around anytime, you know that.”
We soon reached the shop and as it was still open, we went through the shop door.
“Hi, mum!”
“Hello, love. Have you had a nice day?”
“Brilliant!” I replied.
“I hope you were good. “Do you both want a chocolate bar?”
“Yeeeah!” we both shouted together.
“Ben, take Scot into the back room where we keep the seconds and help yourselves to two items each.”
“Thanks, mum.”
We both went around the counter and into the back storeroom and selected a choccy bar each and started to eat it straight away. Once we were finished, we went back into the shop where both mums were still chatting.
“Right Di, we will get off now. Come on Scot… See you tomorrow
